Labor Day and I'm Laboring away...

Ok, well, obviously not really. But, I am at work. And I really am not thrilled about it.

Just think, instead of being chained to my desk working on not much of anything (because it is a holiday and I work in a retail type setting and all the stores are CLOSED today) I could be finally finishing the dining room work. I took Friday off from my illustrious job to get a few things done around the house. Ever notice that no matter how many lists you make, time tables prepared, good intentions you may have, only about a fourth of the planned work actually gets done? This means that instead of getting the dining room a fresh coat of paint, new curtains, floors in the entire house mopped, and the grocery shopping done, I managed to get half of the painting and the shopping done. UGH!!! Oh well, at least the paint fumes are good for a few laughs around the house.

The Bee Babe and I trekked up to Wingate, NC this weekend with her great-grandparents for the birthday party of Bee Babe's second cousin. It was quite the festive occasion and looked as if a John Deere tractor threw up at the location. Tractor boy is 4 days older than Bee Babe, and much to her dismay is already walking/running. She got VERY annoyed that he could get away from her faster than she could scoot/crawl after him. She also LOVED his brand new John Deere Gator tractor toy. So much so, that we had to hide the toy to keep both babe's in somewhat of a good mood. Oh, and her new trick...popping balloons. Turns out Bee Babe is a bit more like her dad than we all imagined. She managed to get her little hands on a balloon, and in not even two minutes time popped the thing. All the other little children began crying at the big loud noise. Did Bee Babe cry? Oh no...Bee babe LAUGHED at the other silly children! Looks like I've got a tiny antagonist on my hands. Lord help me when she starts talking and reasoning more. Lest I taint your image of my sweet little girl, she did show quite a bit of compassion towards the other children when it came time to share in the toy bounty. At one point, she had two rubber balls and gave one to a little girl that didn't have any toys to play with. And, I'm quite proud to say, she is the only child that wasn't in tears as we left because she had to leave behind the wonderful toys.

Back to 'work'...

Oh yes, the John Deere theme is quite in vouge around my home town. Aren't you sad you missed it?? Green and yellow abounded everywhere, and the cake plate was a combine disc spray painted yellow and green!
